Meet Andrew Tong, DDS, MS

Dr. Andrew Tong is a board-certified periodontist proudly serving the Gaithersburg and Clarksburg, MD communities. Inspired by his parents’ dedication to oral health, he developed a passion for dentistry and helping others achieve healthy, confident smiles.

Dr. Andrew graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, College Park, before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He completed a General Practice Residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, where he received advanced training in comprehensive dental care and surgery. After practicing alongside his father, Dr. James Tong, he returned to the University of Maryland to complete his specialty training in Periodontics and earn a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences.

Today, Dr. Andrew specializes in the prevention and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease, dental implants, gum grafting, bone regeneration, and soft and hard tissue augmentation. As a board-certified periodontist, he is committed to providing exceptional, evidence-based care using the latest techniques and technology.

Known for his compassionate, patient-centered approach, Dr. Andrew believes every patient deserves personalized care. He takes the time to educate patients, answer questions, and develop treatment plans that help them feel informed and confident throughout their care.

Dr. Andrew is fluent in English and Mandarin and is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the Academy of Osseointegration. Outside the office, he enjoys playing pickleball, staying active at the gym, and spending time with family and friends.
